IMPROVE YOUR WELLBEINGElasticity
Activation of the superficial blood circulation to improve the elastic qualities of the skin

The natural ageing process entails a progressive reduction in the qualities of the skin and particularly a reduction in its elasticity properties. This can be accelerated by external factors such as prolonged and/or repeated exposure to the sun. It is also common that after significant weight loss, the skin becomes loose with an unattractive crinkled appearance. The elasticity programme can reactivate the blood circulation of the skin and sub-cutaneous tissues to prevent or slow down the ageing of the skin and improve its aesthetic appearance.

 Muscular starter
Pre-preparation for a beginner wishing to start muscle training by electrostimulation

The muscles of a sedentary person are used little and do not therefore have a lot of performance. In this case, an abrupt increase in muscle activity often results in major sprains, reversible, non-serious but very uncomfortable pains. These pains appear in general the day after or two days after intense muscle effort and may last several days. It is often very difficult to carry out everyday activities, for example climbing and going down stairs. To avoid such unpleasantness, Compex has designed the muscular starter programme which requires very progressive muscular work specially adapted for a beginner's muscles that have never been stimulated with Compex. The muscles stimulated with the muscular starter programme are thus ideally prepared to start a new stimulation cycle using another programme to be chosen depending on your objectives. Finally, it is always highly recommended to combine it with regular physical activity which will always be started very progressively.

 Toning massage
Muscular and circulation conditioning before physical activity

Regular sportsmen and women are well aware of the often painful transition between a resting activity and occasional physical activity.
The purpose of the usual warm-up techniques is to respond to this need to activate progressively the physiological functions involved during one-off physical efforts. This physiological need is also very desirable for moderate but unusual physical efforts, as is frequently the case for most of us (treks, biking, jogging, etc.).
The Toning massage programme offers an ideal benefit in the form of optimal muscular and circulation conditioning before any type of physical effort. It allows us to avoid the uncomfortable sensations – usually experienced during the first few minutes of unusual physical efforts – and to limit the secondary consequences of insufficient preparation (aches, etc.).

PREVENT BACK PAINLow back pain
Muscular pains of the low back region

Low-back pain is the most frequently encountered pain. In a standing position, the entire weight of the trunk is concentrated on the joints between the last vertebrae and the sacrum. The low back region is therefore under particular strain. The discs between the vertebrae are crushed and the low back muscles contractured and painful.
There are a great many treatments for the relief of low back pain sufferers; among these, the specific currents of the Compex Low back pain programme provide an appreciable improvement and can even resolve the problem if it is essentially muscular in origin.

 Lumbosciatica
Muscular pains of the low back region combined with pains in the buttocks and the backs of the thighs

Low-back pain is the most frequently encountered pain. In a standing position, the entire weight of the trunk is concentrated on the joints between the last vertebrae and the sacrum. The low back region is therefore under particular strain. The discs between the vertebrae are crushed and the lumbar muscles are contracted and painful.
The discs between the last two vertebrae or between the last vertebra and the sacrum often deteriorate through pressure on the vertebrae. This deterioration may be responsible for irritation, or even compression, of the nerve roots which start from the spine and descend to the buttocks and legs. The pain affects not only the lower back but also descends to one side of the buttocks, the back of the thigh and sometimes as far as the leg. In this case, this is lumbosciatica for which a doctor must always be consulted, in order to assess the degree of compression of the nerve roots and determine the initiation of treatment.
The specific currents of the Compex Lumbosciatica programme provide effective treatment against the pain, but they must always be used as a complement to other treatments prescribed by your doctor.

REDUCE HEAVY LEGS EFFECTHeavy legs
Fight against the feeling of heavy legs

The feeling of heaviness in the legs is due to a temporary deficiency in the venous return, and not to major organic lesions. The stagnation of blood mass in the legs is fostered by some situations: prolonged periods in a standing position, long periods continuously seated, intense heat, etc. The insufficient supply of oxygen to the tissue, and in particular the muscles, that results from this situation, causes the feeling of heaviness and discomfort in the legs. Use of the Heavy legs programme accelerates the return of blood to the veins and has an important relaxing effect on the sore muscles.

 Lymphatic drainage
Combats the occasional swelling of the feet and ankles

A lack of blood circulation in the veins often entails, in unusual circumstances, a build-up of blood and lymph at the ends of the lower limbs.
This phenomenon, which causes the swelling of the ankles and feet, entails an unbearable feeling of heaviness and tension in the regions concerned. The deep massage provoked by the Lymphatic Drainage programme as well as the short contractions of the calf muscles can effectively activate the return lymphatic circulation and, therefore, encourage the disappearance of these pains.

Swelling of the ankles and feet can have causes other than an occasional venous return problem. It is always recommended to consult a doctor in order to establish a diagnosis of this symptom. Some chronic venous insufficiencies may cause permanent swelling of the ankles and feet. Using the Lymphatic Drainage programme is not suitable in this case.

RELAX MUSCLESReviving massage
Combat a feeling of localised heaviness or an occasional state of tiredness

The many constraints of everyday life are often responsible for uncomfortable or even painful physical sensations. A circulatory slow-down is often secondary to insufficient physical activity, frequently amplified by the professional need to keep in the same position for long hours (in a seated position, for example).
Not a really serious condition, this simple "vascular slow-down" is nevertheless often the cause of unpleasant feelings (for example: feeling of heaviness or weight often localised in the lower limbs but also, sometimes, in another area of the body).
The Reviving Massage programme induces, with the greatest comfort, a significant circulatory reaction which improves tissue oxygenation and eliminates painful feelings, further to insufficient physical activity.

 Relaxing massage
To reduce the duration and intensity of muscular aches and pains in the quadriceps.

Electrostimulation both activates blood flow, and speeds up the production of endorphins, thus reducing tension in the muscle fibres. This programme can relieve muscular soreness and is effective even if aches and pains have already started.
Muscular soreness is a painful phenomenon affecting an entire muscle or a muscle group. They appear the day after an unusually long and/or intensive effort. Not a really serious condition, the soreness disappears in a few days, but impairs everyday movement such as walking or coming down stairs, for example. It represents microscopic injuries to the muscle tissue which will set the repair process in motion. The Relaxing Massage programme relieves the pain caused by by muscle soreness by stimulating endorphin production (a natural substance with analgesic properties), by reducing tension in the muscle fibres and by inducing greatly increased local blood circulation favourable to recovery.
